The thing about miis is that miitopia has an insane mii editor that’s… like you can basically make ANYTHING. And if they use it for the next one then I definitely want to see the miis people would make.

A few things I want to say and point out: ~ _Ultimate_ *IS* _Smash 6._ _Super Smash Bros. for_ counts as two games, and yes that is the official shorthand. ~ There's something people who say Jigglypuff will return keep forgetting: Pokémon has a second mascot now. *Eevee.* Why waste the Gen 1 Normal rep on Jigglypuff when it makes more financial sense to focus on the Pokémon that helps represent the franchise. ~ I don't care, Falcon should really be an Assist Trophy by this point if they aren't going to take the _Star Fox_ approach and maker him _somewhat_ game accurate. Have Falcon running people over ala his Final Smash before looping around and pulling off that scene from the anime with the Falcon Punch. You want to keep his current playstyle? Include Ryūō as a legacy character from the series' earliest development. I mean come on, who wouldn't want a Falcon-esque fighter using attacks like Health Absorption, Earthquake, Landmine, Covering Fire, and Machine Gun? ~ Also, Lucario is one of the most popular Pokémon. There are people who recognize Lucario but not Pikachu. They are not cutting Lucario, and as for Greninja, you forget The Pokémon Company dropped him quicker than most of their gimmicks. They included Ash-Greninja as a random demo prize only to straight-up remove it. Plus if you're going on the recent Pokémon polls, Greninja was 21st. Lucario was *9th.* Also Greninja in lost the 2021 poll to Dedenne of all Pokémon. My point is if that _Ultimate_ didn't have the "Everyone is Here" gimmick, I can guarentee you Greninja would've been cut. ~ Why would you cut Wolf and not Falco? You have the protag and the most recurring villain. Just do what Sakurai planned to and make the Star Fox team costumes for Fox. ~ Actually Villager would definitely stay, _Animal Crossing_ is one of Nintendo's core franchises at this point and the villagers are used quite often. This is 100% a franchise they would keep all fighters for. If anything they'd be upgraded to post _New Leaf_ proportions but that's about it. ~ I'm sorry but _Fire Emblem_ is a series that deserves more than one fighter. They problem is that most of the characters are too samey, but rework all of them to be more in-line with the games and you'll see that "overrepresented" arguement fizzle out quickly. ~At least of Game and Watch, Duck Hunt, or R.O.B. should stay to be that legacy Nintendo character. Honestly I'd cut Diddy, Rosalina, and Mega Man to add them ALL back.

I do think the next smash game is going to massively overhaul several mechanics overall, and probably massively rework the characters that do stick around. I could see pretty much everyone you said being cut and maybe some being replaced

Yes, as you said this video was hard to watch, but tbf I think this is a pretty agreeable list. Most of the really important franchises are accounted for, and honestly I think your reasoning is really solid. I will be mourning Daisy however, my girl got the chop!!!

You don’t need three roster spots for the Mii fighters, just put them in one slot and you can keep Ike and Falco (although I would keep wolf before Falco). Also I think you did a good job, you cannot cut any Nintendo franchises since this was originally a NINTENDO crossover fighting game. And before any of you comment complaining about Kirby getting 3 reps, Forgotten Land alone sold three times as much as the entire Xenoblade franchise

Fire Emblem is too big to only have one rep you just cut them all because “too much anime sword fighters” you are actually a coward

I'm not sure how Lucario is a Mewtwo replacement. What similarities do they have, that other fighters do not?

Not cutting sora and dragon quest but cutting cloud is INSANE. sure he's just one protagonist in one game, but he is in the top 5 most iconic characters in gaming.

I'm a huge fan of kingdom hearts. It's my favorite series with kh2 being my favorite game of all time. Choosing sora over cloud is insane though. Cloud represents final fantasy's ability to tell deep personal stories. He isn't the first in the series to do that, but he was the most popular by far.

Saying Octoling doesn’t deserve to be in Smash as much as Inkling does is, technically, racist.

If we cut Min Min, can we get Spring Man as a playable? Keep him with his default weapon, make the arm extensions exclusively grounded, and rework the aerial attacks to be quick punches. Take away the reflector, too, and you have a character with more balanced range

I’m glad to find someone who realizes Jigglypuff is more of a Smash rep than a Pokemon rep at this point, similar to Captain Falcon. She needs a rework desperately, but a smash game with the original 12 is no longer a smash title at core. If Smash were to go the Street Fighter route with how they cycle older characters and what not, I’d see the original 12 (and a few like Marth, Peach, Bowser, Zelda, Ganondorf, Pokémon Trainer, Falco even, etc.) being similar to your Ryu, Ken, and Chun Li’s that appear in the base roster of every title alongside the newcomers, acting as a grounding point of iconography, something that makes you instantly go “yeah, this is a Smash title.” It just makes sense

I heavily disagree with keeping Toon Link and Mewtwo. Toon Link hasn't had a major game since a decade ago and Mewtwo is yet another gen 1 Pokemon. It's insane you cut major final fantasy that had 2 reps but decided to keep in 2 characters from a series that had more than one character represented. But hey it's just an opinion at the end of the day.

honestly, i don't feel too strongly about this one for a change. Highly appreciate keeping toon link, literally nobody else keeps him in and it's an honest to god crime with how much he represents in the zelda series and also how great that style is. what i will say, though; honestly? olimar's an easy cut for me. the pikmin series isn't really that big of a deal, and only really got memed into popularity with a desperate fanbase and an extensive absence, and honestly? i don't think he's a really well thought-out fighter at all, and i don't know how well you could manage to fix him and make him both a well-designed fighter and a good representative of his home series. i don't dislike him, i just think we can do better.

Besides Picking Isabelle over Villager and Keeping the Mii's (or turning them all into one fighter) I agree with everything else.

the only way I could see a new smash with half the characters would make any amount of sense is if it were something crazy like a 3D platform fighter or something, otherwise a smash ultimate deluxe would be much better

Is it a discrepancy between the rotation of the model and the rotation of the controller/base of the character? So after the animation the model snaps back to 0 and the controller rotates 180 degrees the other way, which looks weird when interpolated at slower speeds???

I actually found this easier to think about in reverse strangely enough. 😅 Mario and Luigi - Wouldn't be Smash Bros without Bros Donkey Kong, Pikachu, Samus, Link, Kirby, Yoshi - are off the original 8 that will be staying for sure Minecraft Steve, Sonic, Pac-Man, Cloud - Undoubtably Most Iconic of all time rounding out the top 12 as unlockable Next: Wario, Toon Link, Ness, Villager, Splatoon, Marth, Cloud, Shulk, Little Mac, Megaman, Simon, Ryu, Sora, Snake, Joker - now up to 26 (the same number as Melee) this give as many of the most popular franchises a single rep creating the wides appeal for a Smash game. Now bringing the roster up to Brawl size (39): Bowser, Diddy Kong, Olimar, Fox, Captain Falcon, Pit, Duck Hunt, Mii Sword Fighter, Banjo Kazooie, Hero, Terry, Kazuya, Beyonetta - Harder but the ones left out just either weren't a timestamp in history or duplicate reps of a franchise. Mario got a villain and DK his buddy respectively, and I only added 1 Version of Mii Fighter. That leaves 50 off which I think are all justifiable to cut based on no favoritism and logic.

It feels weird seeing you getting emotional over Ike and Toon Link, to cut the final one. But you kept Diddy Kong?? I understand keeping Luigi and cutting Dr. Mario due to similairty. But removing Ike, over Diddy Kong?

I would say that the mii fighters are superfluous, tricky to play against, and not used/liked by that many people. I'd cut them and bring back snake, cloud, and maybe banjo. Having these 3rd party reps is more important. I also think Toon Link is unimportant.

8/9 of my main chars stayed in :D (I play both villager and isabelle ((villy main)) but I'll take just having one of them)

You've strawmanmed the Fire Emblem argument, to try and act like going nuclear on their numbers is "the right call" when Nintendo would never allow this. Sakurai has said repeatedly that smash is important for relations with other companies. Fire Emblem is a second party (a series co-owned by Nintendo, but has another parent company.) The other major second party is Pokemon. If you look at the most repped series in Smash, aside from Mario it's Pokemon and Fire Emblem. Cutting 6 Fire Emblem characters and only adding Alear is a slap in the face to Intelligent Systems. You're giving them the same number of reps as Square and Capcom when Intelligent Systems have always been a much closer company than either of those two. They make Warioware and Paper Mario for Nintendo. Sakurai doesn't want to piss them off.
